Heard the phrase before? Ever wondered why it is said so?

The concept is simple, but first, let us understand how this works.

Your Subconscious mind does not know the difference between past, present and future. It does not know the difference between reality and imagination. So, it simply accepts every thought, assuming it to be taking place at the moment, and implements those thoughts, converting them into actions or reality. Therefore, it is up to us to choose our thoughts carefully. Positive thoughts lead to positive situations and negative thoughts lead to negative situations.

Now let us get back to why we say that words have power. As we now know, the subconscious mind simply accepts and implements everything it is fed with, so when we repeat something strongly, it sinks into the subconscious mind which loyally does its duty by implementing it. Therefore, it is very important that we remain positive at all times.
